PINELLAS PARK – Venue Theatre is closing. Auditions scheduled for Sunday, April 27, are canceled.
The theater will be auditioning for its upcoming summer season productions of “The Cemetery Club” and “The Gin Game.” Men and women who can portray age 55 and older are sought. Cast breakdowns for each production are listed below.
“The Cemetery Club,” by Ivan Menchell, will run May 30 through June 15 and will be directed by Rob Sakoff. Three Jewish widows meet once a month for tea before going to visit their husband's graves. Ida is sweet tempered and ready to begin a new life. Lucille is a feisty embodiment of the girl who just wants to have fun. Doris is priggish and judgmental. Sam is a charming, regular guy. Mildred is attractive, with a pleasant demeanor.
“The Gin Game,” by D.L. Coburn, will run June 27 through July 13. Roles include Fonsia, a prim, self-righteous lady; and Weller, who is kindly, but with a bit of an edge.
