A Pair of Nuts
TAMPA - A Pair of Nuts, two guys changing the face of comedy in south Florida are bringing the madness to the Tampa Improv on Wednesday, June 4, 8 p.m.

The Tampa Improv is located in Centro Ybor at 1600 East 8th Ave C-112. Two drink minimum per person.

Tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased online at tampaimprov.com or by calling 813-864-4000. For more information visit nutscomedy.com or myspace.com/pairofnuts.

Their shows end with packed houses giving them standing ovations. They've caused pure raucous throughout the Improv Comedy Clubs in South Florida. Who are they? They're Miami's own and only award-winning sketch comedy duo "A Pair of Nuts" starring Yamil Piedra & his little friend Johnny Trabanco.

Fresh out of their sold out show at the 2008 Los Angeles Comedy Festival, these Nuts will be starting their Nationwide Tour at the Tampa Improv on Wednesday, June 4.

"We're excited about starting our tour in Tampa," said Big Nut Yamil Piedra. "It's a great city, with great people, and we're gonna give them a great show like they've never seen!"

Ask Gideon Horowitz, general manager of the South Florida Improv Comedy Clubs, what he thinks of these Nuts and here's what he has to say, "It is my job as General manager of the Miami Improv to walk the room maintaining my composure throughout the comic's performance, checking for hecklers, cameras in the crowd, etc. The first time I saw A Pair of Nuts perform, I was unable to maintain my composure as I was keeled over in tears from laughter. I have seen some of the funniest people in the world, so I know what funny is. Bottom line ... A Pair of Nuts is some of the funniest material I have ever seen performed on my stage."

Together, these Nuts are one of the most promising young comedy shows in the country. Their show is a young, hip, edgy comedy show that features loosely improvised sketches, an assortment of crazy costumes, hilarious choreography, and short videos sprinkled in between. From commercial parodies like “The Law Offices of Facmee & Diaz” to live sketches like “Dueling Nuts,” Yamil & Johnny have created an innovative sketch comedy show that leaves their audiences in stitches and asking, “How’d they come up with that?” Well, they’re nuts!

Their height difference alone is enough to give you a good laugh with Yamil standing at 6'4 and Johnny at 5'7 (so he says). Even though they're both Hispanic, Yamil born in Cuba and Johnny born to Cuban parents, their show is not ethnically driven.

"We do have some material with a hint of Latin, but the majority of our stuff has a universal appeal," said Piedra. "We guarantee everyone'll be laughing from start to finish or you can punch the little guy in the face. Very hard. Then we'll go get some Slurpees, just you and me."
