TAMPA - The 2009 Comedy Jam originally scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 9 at 6 p.m. has been rescheduled to Saturday, August 29 at 7 p.m. The Sun Dome doors will open at 6 p.m.
This year’s event will feature two of the funniest comedians in the industry as Don “DC” Curry and Sheryl Underwood visit the University of South Florida campus.
Tickets to the event are $49 and $39 (plus facility fee and service charge) and can be purchased at the Sun Dome Box Office, any Ticketmaster outlet, or by logging on to www.RA-ENT.com.
Whether he's on tour playing huge theatres or doing special engagements, co-starring in major studio pictures or the leading man in an indie gem, DC Curry is a very versatile, funny man. A prolific stand-up comedian, DC continually headlines top concert venues and major comedy clubs across the country. Not only a performer, DC also produces many of his own projects.
His versatility and trademark comedy keeps him constantly working in stand up, television, and film with roles such as Pastor Jones on the NBC sitcom, The Tracey Morgan Show. He's the outrageous Uncle Elroy in Next Friday, and the hilarious holiday third-sequel Friday After Next. He was the grumpy boss as a series regular on ABC's Grace Under Fire and was an actor/singer, along with Ronald Isley of the Isley Brothers on The Steve Harvey Show. DC recently filmed, Don "D.C." Curry-Nervous Breakdown Live!, his own DVD/cable TV special and CD that he also co-produced. DC is expanding his audience and his range on both sides of the cameras.
Underwood's comedy career began in 1989 when she became the first female finalist in the popular Miller Lite Comedy Search. Since then her career has continued to skyrocket. Underwood has won a number of high profile comedy competitions including Johnny Walker Red, Funniest Woman at the Improv, Old English Comedy Crunch and BET's Comic View's Funniest Female Comedian.
She has also made strides in the television industry as an additional host for the BET popular talk show, Oh Drama!; hosting her on show, Holla!; and appearing as a fan favorite on shows such as Politically Incorrect, HBO's All-Star Def Comedy Jam, Showtime's Full-Frontal Comedy Show, Motown Live and Fox's Saturday Night Special. Her appeal also extends to film with roles in Bullworth and Master P's I Got the Hook Up.
With upcoming appearances on Comedy Central & Showtime's Laff-a-palooza, Underwood continues to push the envelope: discussing sex, politics, current events and relationships. Her onstage show elicits bold testimonials from even the most conservative crowds. Whether on radio, television or in film, Underwood is quick to use humor to convey her views in a down-to-earth, likable style.
