ST. PETERSBURG – American Stage Theatre Company’s 2014-15 After Hours Series will kick off in September with two shows, including “Hawk and Wayne’s This is a Comedy Show” and “The Vagina Monologues.”

As part of the Sunday Comedy Series, “Hawk and Wayne’s This is a Comedy Show” will debut Sunday, Sept. 7, 6 p.m., at American Stage Theatre Company, 163 Third St. N.

This new, totally improvised one-act play features the critically acclaimed comedy improv duo, Gavin Hawk and Ricky Wayne. Hawk and Wayne will weave together a totally improvised one-act play based on audience suggestions.

Back for their sixth straight year in residence at American Stage, they have been well received nationally this past year touring comedy festivals like Philadelphia’s DuoFest, Sarasota Improv Festival, Hartford Improv Festival, Detroit Improv Festival and Out of Bounds Comedy Festival in Austin, Texas.

Opening for Hawk and Wayne this season will be improv teams from students in American Stage Education’s Improvisation Training Program. These improv teams will showcase their fresh, new acts.

Tickets are $10. The show will be performed in the lobby cabaret, where there will be a full cash bar service.

As part of the Cabaret Drama Series, “The Vagina Monologues,” by Eve Ensler, will return to American Stage with new cast members. The production will be presented Sunday, Sept. 21, 6 p.m.

Obie Award-winner Eve Ensler’s whirlwind tour of a forbidden zone, “The Vagina Monologues” introduces a wildly divergent gathering of female voices, including a 6-year-old girl, a septuagenarian New Yorker, a vagina workshop participant, a woman who witnesses the birth of her granddaughter, and a feminist happy to have found a man who "liked to look at it."

Tickets are Pay-What-You-Can, with $15 advance tickets available and a suggested donation of $10 to $20 at the door. Performed in the lobby cabaret, there will be full cash bar service.
