Satchmo: The Life and Times of Louis Armstrong is coming to TBPAC.
TAMPA - Live the life and times of Louis Armstrong, feel the beat of the percussion troupe STOMP, travel to Seville and Madrid listening to music by the Spanish Lyric Theater, hear the sounds of one of today's top female singers and get the heart pumping watching a dance sport competition.
Such is the variety of shows at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center this September. The schedule and show highlights follow.
- Satchmo: The Life and Times of Louis Armstrong, Thursday through Sunday, Aug. 20 to Sept. 25, in the Jaeb Theater. Show times are Thursday. 7:30 p.m.; Friday. 8 p.m.; Saturday. 2 and 8 p.m.; and Sunday, 4 p.m.
Using Louis Armstrong's actual journal entries, the story of Satchmo is told in Louis' own voice dispelling common myths and showing how he saw the world. From "Ain't Misbehavin'" to "What a Wonderful World," Satchmo brings back the joy, the swing, the life and times of the legendary and beloved Louis Armstrong.
Featuring a talented cast, Satchmo is not just a musical biography of Louis Armstrong, but also illustrates to the audience the ďrealĒ Louis Armstrong as he was behind the scenes. Characters who will be portrayed on stage include Armstrong himself, Ella Fitzgerald, Bessie Smith, Joe Glaser (Armstrongís long-time agent), Bing Crosby and many others. A seven-piece band is part of the production, as well.

- SunTrust Broadway in Tampa Bay, Tuesday through Sunday, Sept. 6 to 11, in Carol Morsani Hall. Show times are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 7:30 p.m.; Friday 8 p.m.; Saturday, 5 and 9 p.m.; and Sunday 3 and 7 p.m.
STOMP is explosive, provocative, sophisticated, sexy, utterly unique and definitely a show for all ages. The eight-member percussion troupe uses everything But conventional percussion instruments to fill the stage with magnificent rhythms.

- Spanish Lyric Theater presents Viva Sevilla ... y ole Viva Madrid!, Saturday, Sept. 10, 7:30 p.m., in Ferguson Hall.
Viva Sevilla y ole Viva Madrid! showcases the songs, dance and fun of Seville and Madrid. There is no dialogue, and a full orchestra will accompany Spanish Lyric Theater performers. This show will be appreciated by both Spanish and non-Spanish audience members.
On her 2003 debut, Salt, Lizz Wright was hailed by People magazine as "one of the year's most promising new voices" and described by USA Today as a "smoky, simmering" talent. With her latest album, Dreaming Wide Awake, Wright embraces the ever-evolving history of jazz, gospel, R&B and the singer-songwriter tradition.

- Fire & Ice Spectacular Ballroom Stars Live!, Saturday, Sept. 24, 8 p.m., Carol Morsani Hall.
Come see the ballroom stars perform live in Tampa's only dance sport competition, featuring Andre and Natale Paramonou, the current Canadian International Latin champions.
