CLEARWATER - The Early Bird Dinner Theatre will present "Hotbed Hotel" Thursday to Sunday through Nov. 6.
Hilarious bedlam transpires at a run-down Florida hotel when the staff masquerade as the guests in order to influence a prospective buyer.
Terri and Brian are trying to sell their one-star (and often one guest) hotel in the Florida Keys. A prospective buyer is about to arrive from New York. They decide to have the staff masquerade as paying guests to convince him that the establishment is busy and prosperous.
Unfortunately, the staff consists of a bibulous maintenance man and a curvaceous but somewhat vacant young maid. Add the eccentric retired British Army Major who resides at the hotel, a wealthy Arab Sheik (who looks suspiciously like the Major), a nymphomaniac dubbed the Barracuda during her annual stays, the prospective buyer's girlfriend (and unexpectedly, his wife) and the result is a laugh-a-minute merry-go-round.
On Thursdays and Saturdays two presentations are offered: Doors open at 10:30 a.m., dinner starts at 11 and curtain time is 1 p.m.; doors open at 3:30 p.m., dinner starts at 4 and curtain time is 6 p.m.
On Fridays and Sundays, one presentation is offered: Doors open at 3:30 p.m., dinner starts at 4 and curtain time is 6 p.m.
