‘Driving Miss Daisy’ wheels into the Gulfport theater

TREASURE ISLAND – “Driving Miss Daisy” will be the Island Community Theatre’s 2005-2006 season opening production at the Catherine Hickman Theater. The show will be presented Friday and Saturday, Oct. 7 and 8, 8 p.m.; Thursday, Oct. 13, through Saturday, Oct. 15, 8 p.m. Matinees are Sundays, Oct. 9 and 16, at 1:30 p.m.,
Alfred Uhry’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play is set in the South. Daisy Werthan, a rich sharp-tounged Jewish retired schoolteacher in her early 70s has demolished a number of her cars and her son insists that she have a chauffeur.
The story spans about 25 years and the two, despite their mutual differences, grow close and depend on each other.
