'The War of the Worlds' coming to American Stage

ST. PETERSBURG - American Stage, Tampa Bay's best professional theatre, continues its 28th season with the Halloween extra, "The War of the Worlds," running for 11 performances from Oct. 21 thru 30. Previews are Oct. 19 and 20. Special kid's ticket prices are $7.50.

Performed as part radio play, part live theatre event, "The War of the Worlds" is the faithful recreation of the most infamous radio performance of all time, Orson Welles and the Mercury Theatre's 1938 broadcast that rattled the nation.

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening curtain is at 7:30 p.m.; Friday and Saturday evening curtain is at 8 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday matinee curtain is at 3 p.m.

Tickets prices are $21 to $34 depending on date and time of performance. Special kids (under 16) ticket prices are $7.50. Pay What You Can night is Tuesday, Oct. 25. Students Rush tickets are $10 and are sold 30 minutes prior to curtain.
