CLEARWATER - George Carlin with special guest Vance Gilbert is coming to Ruth Eckerd Hall on Saturday, Dec. 9, for two performances at 6 and 9:30 p.m.
Carlin is so irreverent, twisted and funny, people never quite know what he'll do. He pretty much invented the HBO Comedy Special. He was the first-ever host of Saturday Night Live. His old hippie persona still enlivens the movies. And his "Seven Dirty Words" routine still raises such hackles that a California Congressman recently tried to outlaw it from being broadcast - 30 years after Carlin first wrote it. Always an energetic, provocative performer, always a Ruth Eckerd Hall sell-out.
Adult language and content.
Opener Vance Gilbert is singer-songwriter whose words are both poetic and powerful. He was named the Kerrville Music Award's Vocalist of the Year in 1997.
Tickets are $39, $43 and $70 and available by calling 727-791-7400 or visiting www.rutheckerdhall.com. Ruth Eckerd Hall is at 1111 North McMullen Booth Road, Clearwater.
