ST. PETERSBURG – The St. Petersburg Sail & Power Squadron will present Skipper Saver: Partners in Command Wednesday, Feb. 26, 6:45 to 9 p.m., at the St. Petersburg Sailing Center, 250 Second Ave. SE, Demens Landing.
This seminar will provide the first mate with the knowledge to bring the boat and skipper back to port safely should the skipper fall overboard or become disabled. Each student will receive the full student guide with copies of the presentation written for the seminar.
Instruction is free. Cost for materials is $35 per family.
The squadron also will present Using GPS on Wednesday, March 19, 7 to 9 p.m., at the center.
This seminar will cover the principals of waypoint navigation and will show attendees how to relate the GPS to their charts. The seminar also shows you how to operate the GPS – what the buttons do, what the screens show and how to access the functions. Participants also will get some tips for choosing a GPS. Materials include the waterproof Captain’s Quick Guide to Using GPS. Attendees are encouraged to bring their handheld devices. Instruction is free. Cost for materials is $35 per family.
