LARGO – Gulf Coast Giving has announced school beneficiaries of its 2014 Upgrade 2 Success 5K and 1-mile Family Fun Doggie Walk/Run, scheduled for Saturday, April 5.
Carwise Middle School, Cypress Woods Elementary School, Bay Vista Fundamental School, Calvary Christian High School and Indian Rocks Christian School were selected by the community-at-large through online links and a social media-voting contest.
The race Upgrade 2 Success serves as a platform to spread Gulf Coast Giving’s cyberbullying awareness, prevention and intervention efforts. Proceeds from the race will purchase much needed IT and computer equipment for the schools.
The chip-timed race will take place Saturday, April 5, beginning at 9 a.m., at Walsingham Park in Largo. Registration for the race is open to the public at www.gulfcoastgiving.org/run.
Participants will receive T-shirts, swag bags and finisher medals for all children. They will compete for first-, second- and third-place medals in all age groups as well as medals for overall male and female winners.
The event will include a silent auction, a raffle, giveaways, music, food, a visit from the Easter Bunny, arts and crafts for children, an Easter egg hunt and an inaugural 1-mile family fun doggie walk/run.
