SEMINOLE – Registration has begun for the fifth annual Forever Friends Golf Tournament Saturday, April 5 at Seminole Lake Country Club.
The tournament is held yearly in honor of Nate Richardson, Keith MacCollom, Joey Ruzecki and LeShawn Smith who died on April 10, 2009 in a car accident in Seminole. Richardson, MacCollom and Ruzecki were students at Seminole High School. Smith was a student at Largo High School.
All of them were standout students. Smith and MacCollom were members of their high school basketball teams and Richardson was on Seminole High’s baseball team.
All money and proceeds raised from the tournament will go toward scholarships in the boy’s names at Seminole High School and youth opportunities around the city of Seminole and Largo. Within the past four years, the tournament has raised over $125,000 in college scholarships as well as $45,000 in grants for kids.
There are many ways that residents and businesses can donate and participate in the tournament.
The entry fee to play is $160 per person. The fee includes a lunch and dinner provided by Seminole Lake Country Club, 18 holes of golf, one mulligan, putting green and straightest drive contests, four closest to the pin contests and 12 raffle tickets.
Forever Friends is also looking for a title sponsor, which is $4,000. With this sponsorship, the sponsor gets entry of two foursomes, along with four extra dinners, business name on tournament brochures distributed around the community and a banner recognizing them and their business.
A gold sponsorship is $1,250 and includes entry for four players, a gold sponsorship sign along with hole sign on the course and four additional dinners.
A silver sponsorship is $1,000 and includes tournament entry for four, a silver sponsorship sign and a hole sign. A bronze sponsorship is $750 and includes entry for four players and a bronze sponsorship hole sign.
There also is the opportunity for a business to be a putting green sponsor or a driving range sponsor. Both are $250. Any resident or business can be a get a hole sign for $100.
There will be a silent auction as well as a live auction during dinner. The families are looking for item donations for both. If anyone is interested in joining for dinner, each dinner is $25.
The deadline to register to play in the tournament is March 31.
