Florida Archaeology Day event ST. PETERSBURG – A Florida Archaeology Day event will be presented Saturday, March 2, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Weedon Island Preserve, 1800 Weedon Drive NE. Sponsored by the Florida Public Archaeology Network and Alliance for Weedon Island Archaeological Research and Education, the event will include archaeological and educational activities celebrating the historical cultural diversity of Tampa Bay. Weedon Island guided hikes ST. PETERSBURG – Guided hikes will be offered Saturdays, March 2, 9, 9 to 11 a.m., at Weedon Island Preserve, 1800 Weedon Drive NE. Attendees will learn about the ecosystems on this free guided hike. Participants should bring water and a snack. A hat and closed-toe shoes also are recommended. Turtle program ST. PETERSBURG – A free Going Coastal program will be offered Wednesday, March 6, 2 to 4 p.m., at Weedon Island Preserve, 1800 Weedon Drive NE. The program will focus on Florida’s sea turtles. Attendees will learn the life histories of some of Florida’s most beloved marine creatures and what can be done to keep them safe during the nesting season. Advance registration is required. The Great Weedon Bird Quest ST. PETERSBURG – The Great Weedon Bird Quest will be Friday, March 8, 8 to 10 a.m., at Weedon Island Preserve, 1800 Weedon Drive NE. Fort De Soto Park guided walks TIERRA VERDE – A free, guided nature walk will be offered Saturday, March 2, 10 to 11 a.m., at Fort De Soto Park, 3500 Pinellas Bayway S. Guests will enjoy the beauty of Fort De Soto Park with a one-hour nature walk great for the entire family. A guided walk on the mangrove trail is planned. Audubon Society trips, programs CLEARWATER – The Clearwater Audubon Society will host a number of field trips and programs in March, including the following:

Spring Ecofest LARGO – Earth Day will be celebrated early at the Spring Ecofest, set for Saturday, April 20, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at George C. McGough Nature Park, 11901 146th N. St. The event will feature activities for kids, music, live wildlife exhibits, information on recycling, guest speakers and a free giveaway in honor of Arbor Day. Wee-Time at Weedon ST. PETERSBURG – Wee-Time at Weedon will be presented Thursday, March 14, 10:30 to 11:15 a.m., at Weedon Island Preserve, 1800 Weedon Drive NE. This free program is designed to introduce children ages 3 to 5 to the wonders of the natural and cultural world.
