Golfers scramble for Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation

BELLEAIR – Members of the Belleair Country Club played Texas Scramble to benefit Rally for a Cure on March 2. This was the seventh annual event to benefit for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

The event started with a Continental breakfast, followed by a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Following play, lunch was served and the awards made. A style show was presented during lunch by Beautiful Transitions – a boutique featuring wigs, mastectomy needs and ladies apparel.

There were 100 players for the event. Those with 60 scores were ranked by match of cards.

Special events winners were:

• Closest-to-pins – No. 5 Niner, Gwen Hoover; No. 13 All other, Christiana Werner

• Long Drive – No. 17 Niner, Barbara Goodman; No. 12 All other, Mary Critchfield

• Closest-to-line – No. 14, Carolyn Carr
