Gardening with native plants seminar DUNEDIN – A sustainability seminar on landscaping and gardening with native plants is set for Saturday, March 13, 10:30 a.m., at the Dunedin Community Center, 1920 Pinehurst Road in the Elliott Room. The speaker will be Jim McGinty of the Florida Native Plant Society. Participants will learn the difference between native and exotic plants, the differences between natural and conventional landscaping, and examples of effective natural landscape design. Bay Bouquet Garden Club meeting DUNEDIN – The Bay Bouquet Garden Club will meet Wednesday, March 17, 9:30 a.m., at the Dunedin Library, 223 Douglas Ave. Michelle Simoneau will present a program on the Seabird Sanctuary. Flower show CLEARWATER - The Clearwater Garden Club, 405 Seminole Street, in Clearwater is the venue for Along the Intracoastal, a standard flower show and joint venture of the Clearwater Garden Club and Bay Bouquet Garden Club. Along the Intracoastal will be open on Friday, March 19, 1 to 5 p.m., and Saturday, March 20, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free. Exhibits include floral design, horticultural specimens and educational exhibits, including salt-tolerant plants.
Tampa African Violet Society meeting SEFFNER - The Tampa African Violet Society will meet Friday, March 19, 10 a.m., at the Seffner-Mango Library Public Meeting Room, 410 N. Kingsway Road, Seffner. Christel Collier, award-winning grower from Lakeland, will be the guest speaker. The program will be "African Violet Trailers." A plant raffle will be held and growing tips offered. Orchid Friends sale LARGO – The orchid friends sale will be Saturday, March 20, 9 a.m. to noon, at 12350 Ridge Road. There will be a variety of orchids for sale at budget prices, many in bloom.
