LARGO – Gulf Coast Giving will host 2014 Upgrade 2 Success 5K and 1-mile Family Fun Doggie Walk/Run, for Saturday, April 5, 9 a.m., at Walsingham Park, 12615 102nd Ave. in Largo.
Early registration is $20 through Friday, March 21 and includes all race perks. Regular registration is $25 through Friday, April 4. Registration for the race is open to the public at www.gulfcoastgiving.org/run.
Each registered adult can enter two children younger than 18 for free.
Participants in the chip-timed race will receive T-shirts, swag bags and finisher medals for all children. They will compete for first-, second- and third-place medals in all age groups as well as medals for overall male and female winners.
The race Upgrade 2 Success serves as a platform to spread Gulf Coast Giving’s cyberbullying awareness, prevention and intervention efforts. Proceeds from the race will purchase much needed IT and computer equipment for the schools.
Carwise Middle School, Cypress Woods Elementary School, Bay Vista Fundamental School, Calvary Christian High School and Indian Rocks Christian School were selected by the community-at-large through online links and a social media-voting contest.
The event will include a silent auction, a raffle, giveaways, music, food, a visit from the Easter Bunny, arts and crafts for children, an Easter egg hunt and an inaugural 1-mile family fun doggie walk/run.
Gulf Coast Giving provides support for nonprofits and schools within the community in an effort to improve the community and allow everyone to keep pace in a modern world. Gulf Coast Giving also raises cyberbullying awareness, prevention, and intervention efforts all over Tampa Bay.
