Specialized aquatic fitness class offered ST. PETE BEACH – The St. Pete Beach Aquatic Center is offering a specialized aquatic fitness class for those who are movement impaired. Suggested participants are those with multiple sclerosis, arthritis or other neuromuscular issues and the class will concentrate on range of motion, balance issues and muscle strengthening. Lifeguard classes in St. Pete Beach ST. PETE BEACH – The city of St. Pete Beach is offering a series of classes in March that lead to certification as a lifeguard. Participants must be 15 years or older and must complete a pre-test to continue in the class. The pre-test consists of treading water for two minutes using legs only, swimming 300 yards without stopping and a surface dive to retrieve a 10-pound brick from the bottom. The cost is $160 for city residents and $180 for non-residents. The next session meets March 15, 16, 22 and 23, followed by another session March 24-28.
