SEMINOLE – There are still some openings in the fifth annual Forever Friends Golf Tournament.

The event, which will be held Saturday, April 5, at the Seminole Lake Country Club, is in honor of Nate Richardson, Keith MacCollom, Joey Ruzecki and LeShawn Smith who died on April 10, 2009 in a car accident in Seminole. Richardson MacCollom and Ruzecki were students at Seminole High School. Smith was a student at Largo.

The four young men were standout students in the classroom. Smith and MacCollom were all-star athletes on their high school basketball teams and Richardson was on Seminole High’s baseball team.

Registration and lunch for golfers is at noon. Tee off is 1 p.m.

This year’s entry fee is $160 per person. The fee includes a lunch and dinner provided by Seminole Lake Country Club, 18 holes of golf, one mulligan, putting and straightest drive contests, four closest to the pin contests and 12 raffle tickets.

All proceeds from the tournament will go to scholarships in the boys’ names at Seminole High School and youth opportunities around the city of Seminole and Largo. Within the past four years, the tournament has raised over $125,000 in college scholarships as well as $45,000 in grants for kids.

This year’s golf tournament features many ways for people and businesses to help get involved with many different sponsorships and donation opportunities.

A gold sponsorship is $1,250 and includes entry for four players to play golf, a gold sponsorship sign along with hole sign on the course and four additional dinners.

A silver sponsorship is $1,000 and includes entry for four golfers, a silver sponsorship sign along with hole sign. A bronze sponsorship is $750 and includes entry for four players and a bronze sponsorship hole sign.

There is always opportunity for a business to be a putting green sponsor or a driving range sponsor; both are $250. Any person or business can get a hole sign for $100.

Dinner tickets are $25. There will be a silent auction, a live auction and a tournament awards banquet.
