Golf classic is fundraiser for new building BELLEAIR – Registration is open for Woodlawn Community Academy’s second annual Charity Golf Classic Saturday, April 26, starting at noon, at Belleview Biltmore Golf Club, 1501 Indian Rocks Road.
After registration, the golf classic’s shotgun start is at 1 p.m. An awards presentation and buffet dinner is at 6 p.m. The cost is $125 per person.
Woodlawn Community Academy, at 845 Woodlawn St. in Clearwater, is in need of a bigger building to serve more children in the community with special needs. Currently, 105 students in kindergarten through 12th grade are enrolled, but the waiting list keeps growing.
The staff emphasizes helping each child achieve his or her very best academically, socially, spiritually and physically by focusing on individualized education for children with a variety of special needs and learning disabilities. The academy also helps its students transition to life after high school with special programs that will impart the skills necessary to obtain a job and contribute to the community.

Voices of Hope golf tournament set SEMINOLE – The Voices of Hope for Aphasia golf tournament will be held Saturday, May 3, 1 p.m., at Seminole Lake Country Club, 6100 Augusta Blvd. Cost is $75 per golfer.
Voices of Hope for Aphasia is a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to helping stroke survivors and others afflicted with aphasia find hope that progress can be made, and in the meantime to find ways to live a happy and fulfilling life. Aphasia is an acquired communication disorder that impairs a person’s ability to process language, but does not affect their intelligence.

Golf tournament to benefit football program SEMINOLE – The second annual Celebrity Golf Tournament will be Saturday, June 7, at Bardmoor Golf Course, 8001 Cumberland Road.
The event will feature an 8 a.m. shotgun start. Cost is $90 golf with a team of four. For information, call 403-4516.
The charity event will benefit kids in the Clearwater football program. The tournament will include a hole-in-one contest, other contests, raffles, autographed sports memorabilia, continental breakfast, range balls, 18 holes of golf, cart, hot lunch, trophies, prizes and local sports celebrities.
