LARGO – West Florida Lightning Aquatics and the Pinellas County Sports Commission will host USA Diving’s Junior East Nationals Friday through Sunday, April 25-27 at the Southwest Recreation Complex, 13120 Vonn Road.
More than 240 elite junior divers ages 9 to 18 from around the country and 70 club and college coaches will be attending the meet.
The Tampa Bay area has four divers from West Florida Lightning Aquatics who qualified to participate in the event. They include Wotovich, 10 of Redington Shores; Ashley Gonzalez, 12, of Belleair; Dillon Richardson, 12, of Riverview, and Keegan Richardson, 16, of Riverview.
Wotovich, Gonzalez and Dillon Richardson will be competing both on the 1-meter and 3-meter springboards. Keegan Richardson will dive the 3-meter springboard.
The competition is open to the public. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children.
USA Diving selects divers to represent the United States in major diving events including the Olympic Games, World Championships and the FINA Diving World Cup. Other well-known events include the AT&T National Diving Championships, the AT&T USA Diving Grand Prix, and the Junior and Age Group National Diving Championships.
