Article published on Thursday, May 8, 2008
SEMINOLE – A 15-year-old Seminole girl is seeking donations so she can participate in a summer sports competition in Holland.

Alexis Pond, a swimmer who trains at the Walter Fuller Recreation Center in St. Petersburg, needs about $2,400 within the next few weeks to compete in the People To People Sports Ambassador Program in late July in The Netherlands.

According to her mother, Alana Pond, Alexis has raised about $4,000 of the funds needed to make the trip.

The competition will feature athletes from 20 countries competing in eight sports.

For further information, go to www.sportsambassadors.org. To make a donation, contact Alana Pond at 341-0136.
