African Violet Society plant sale
CLEARWATER – The Upper Pinellas County African Violet Society will host a plant sale on Friday and Saturday, May 9 and 10, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at St. Matthias Lutheran Church, 2751 Sunset Point Road. The show will feature many varieties of flowering African violets, starter plants, leaves and the other gesneriads. UPAVS has a large selection of African violet-related supplies for sale. There will be members on hand to answer questions on growing violets and the other gesneriads beautifully. Bring in problem plants for advice. Master Gardener Plant Sale
LARGO – There will be a Master Gardener Plant Sale on Saturday, May 10, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Florida Botanical Gardens and Pinellas County Extension, 12520 Ulmerton Road. The sale will offer a selection of many different plants and garden accessories. Call 582-2599.

Discovery Tour
LARGO – A Discovery Tour will be offered on Sunday, May 11, 1 to 2:30 p.m., at Florida Botanical Gardens, 12520 Ulmerton Road. The tour will provide an overview of all that Florida Botanical Gardens and Pinellas County Extension has to offer. From the demonstration gardens to the formal gardens, natural areas and sculpture gardens, there will be something for everyone. The tour is free. To register, call 582-2581.

African Violet Society meet
BRANDON – The Tampa African Violet Society will meet on May 16, 10 a.m., at the Brandon Recreational Center, 510 E. Sadie St. Phyllis King, an award winner in both horticulture and design, will be the guest speaker. There will be a hands-on program, a plant raffle and refreshments. Admission and parking are free. Composting workshop
DUNEDIN – As part of Dunedin’s Sustainability Seminar Series, there will be a free composting workshop on Saturday, May 17, 10:30 a.m., at the Dunedin Community Center, 1920 Pinehurst Road.

Historic Kenwood Garden plant sale
ST. PETERSBURG - The Historic Kenwood Garden Workshop presents its fourth annual plant sale on Saturday, May 17, 9 a.m., at Albright United Methodist Church, 28th Street and Fifth Avenue North in St. Petersburg. In addition to a range of locally grown landscaping plants (including Florida natives), the Workshop offers whimsical garden art for sale. The Workshop uses profits from its fundraising events to contribute to local and regional charities.

Spring orchid sale and show
