Millers shine at World Championships
Article published on Thursday, May 10, 2007 |
SEMINOLE – Local martial arts students, Jeremiah and Adam Miller fared well in the Compete World Karate Championships in California in March.
Jeremiah finished second and third in all his black belt divisions and won the traditional weapons competition with a sword form.
His younger brother Adam won seven divisions and a second place in one of his black belt divisions.
Due to their strong showing, they have been invited to compete with world champion Team AKA in Chicago.
Both Adam and Jeremiah train and teach under grand master John Gabriel of the Red Dragon Martial Arts Academy in the Orange Lake Civic Center in Largo. Both boys also train privately with Sensei Daniel Sterling from Team Paul Mitchell. They also travel to Orlando once a week to train in a special competition class that lasts the whole day at the Florida Sport Martial Arts Academy.
Jeremiah attends Seminole High School where he is an honor roll student and Adam attends Seminole Middle School where he is on the principal’s list with all A’s.
They are the sons of David and Kathy Miller of Largo.
