African Violet Society meet BRANDON – The Tampa African Violet Society will meet on May 16, 10 a.m., at the Brandon Recreational Center, 510 E. Sadie St. Phyllis King, an award winner in both horticulture and design, will be the guest speaker. There will be a hands-on program, a plant raffle and refreshments. Admission and parking are free. Composting workshop DUNEDIN – As part of Dunedin’s Sustainability Seminar Series, there will be a free composting workshop on Saturday, May 17, 10:30 a.m., at the Dunedin Community Center, 1920 Pinehurst Road.
Historic Kenwood Garden plant sale ST. PETERSBURG - The Historic Kenwood Garden Workshop presents its fourth annual plant sale on Saturday, May 17, 9 a.m., at Albright United Methodist Church, 28th Street and Fifth Avenue North in St. Petersburg. In addition to a range of locally grown landscaping plants (including Florida natives), the Workshop offers whimsical garden art for sale. The Workshop uses profits from its fundraising events to contribute to local and regional charities.

Florida Botanical Gardens Discovery tour LARGO – There will be a discovery tour on Sunday, May 25, 1 to 2:30 p.m., at Florida Botanical Gardens, 12520 Ulmerton Road. Guests will explore one of Pinellas County’s most lovely locations while getting an overview of all that the gardens and the Pinellas County Extension has to offer, from the demonstration gardens to the formal gardens, natural areas and sculpture gardens.
