TIERRA VERDE - Tampa Bay Watch will host the fourth annual Ed Alber Tarpon Rodeo on Saturday, June 20 with cash prizes totaling $5,500.

Anglers will enjoy wide open conditions as they fish their favorite spots throughout Tampa Bay to one mile offshore running north to Redington Fishing Pier and south to Longboat Pass. The winning boat will be determined by the total number of certified photos of tarpon or sharks, minimum of 24 inches, legally released per boat.

Proceeds from the tournament will benefit Tampa Bay Watch, a nonprofit organization active in protecting and restoring the marine and wetland environments of the Tampa Bay estuary and educating the community about environmental stewardship.

The tournament festivities will kick off at Tampa Bay Watch Community Center on Friday, June 19, at 5:30 p.m. with registration and dinner provided by Carrabba’s Italian Grill. The Captains’ meeting with a live and silent auction will follow at 7:30 p.m. Families are encouraged to attend.

The main event gets underway Saturday, June 20, with the fishing to begin at 6:30 a.m. and continuing until 3 p.m. The Awards Ceremony is scheduled at Tampa Bay Watch Community Center at 3:30 p.m.

The tournament is limiting entries to 35 boats. To register, please call Tampa Bay Watch at 727-867-8166 or visit www.tampabaywatch.org

Tampa Bay Watch is a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) stewardship program dedicated exclusively to the charitable and scientific purpose of protecting and restoring the marine and wetland environments of the Tampa Bay estuary encompassing over 400 square miles of open water and 2,300 square miles of highly- developed watershed. Tampa Bay Watch involves more than 10,000 youth and adult volunteers each year in hands on habitat restoration projects.

Raymond James, Phoenix Venture Philanthropy Foundation and Carrabba’s Italian Grill are gold sponsors and Frank E. Duckwall Foundation Inc., General Dynamics and Scooter Foundation are silver sponsors of the tournament.
