Oldsmar plans fishing camps OLDSMAR – The city of Oldsmar Leisure Services is offering fishing camps for kids ages 8-12 on June 23-27 and July 14-18. The camps run from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. The cost is $80 per week for folks with a recreation card and $120 per week for those without a rec card. According to the city website, the fishing camps provide valuable information regarding fish and their habitat, teaches various fishing techniques, and cultivates a new crop of responsible anglers. All aspects of fishing are covered, ranging from fish identification and fish biology to boat navigation and angling techniques. Senior billiards league forming PALM HARBOR – A new daytime billiards league is forming at Stroker’s Billiard Hall, 30901 U.S. 19 N., beginning Thursday, July 10. Local residents Bob Miller and Demenic DeBlasi are starting Silver Strokers, a program open to men and women ages 55 and older. Hours are noon to 4 p.m. every Thursday. Play will begin with individual competition and advance to team play when enough players begin to participate. It will be an 8-ball tournament with double-elimination under BCA rules. Christmas in July Softball Challenge set OLDSMAR – The Upper Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce plans is fifth annual Oldsmar vs. the Sheriff’s Office Christmas in July Softball Challenge Saturday, July 12, 4 p.m., at Bright House Field in Clearwater. Christian Chamber plans golf tourney CLEARWATER – The Christian Chamber of Commerce Tampa Bay Inc. announces its Inaugural Golf Tournament on July 18 at the Feather Sound Country Club in Clearwater. The cost is $95 per golfer or $360 for a foursome. Registration begins at 7 a.m. Shotgun starts at 8:30 a.m. Entry fee includes a summer paradise membership, green fees, cart fee, range balls, breakfast, lunch, on course special events and prizes.
