CLEARWATER – Online registration is now open for the fourth annual Morton Plant Mease Triathlon, set for Sunday, July 12 in Clearwater.

The course begins with a 1/3-mile open water swim in the Gulf of Mexico at Sand Key Park. From there, the 13-mile bike route crosses Sand Key Causeway through Clearwater Beach and over to the Memorial Causeway, then it winds down Clearwater and Belleair and the Belleair Beach Causeway. Runners then complete the race with a 3.1-mile run through Sand Key Park.

Registrants may sign up at www.mpm

triathlon.org or at www.active.com. The registration fee is $70 a person or $85 a relay team. Fees will increase by $5 after July 5. Entry fees are nonrefundable, and online registration closes July 8. Registration capacity is limited to 1,000 entries.

A $4,000 purse will be distributed to the top five Elite/Open Division male and female finishers. Custom plaques will be awarded to the top five males and females in each division and the top three teams in each relay division. All race finishers will receive a custom medal.

Divisions are as follows:

• Age group (14 and younger, and then in five-year increments up to 85 and older)

• Clydesdale: 39 and younger and 40 and older
