Kiwanis Midnight Run
DUNEDIN – The 30th annual Kiwanis Morton Plant Mease Midnight Run is July 3 and 4, at Causeway Plaza, 2600 Bayshore Blvd. All runs start and end at the plaza. Preregister by mailing entries to P.O. Box 1221, Dunedin, FL 34697. Entries must be received by Tuesday, June 30. Register online at www.active.com. Deadline is Tuesday, June 30, 11:59 p.m. Register in person at the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce, 301 Main St., or at Vision Hardware, 1750 Main St., Dunedin. Cutoff is the close of business, Tuesday, June 30. Register on race night at Causeway Plaza in front of the Florida Sheriff’s Ranch Store. Registration is from 9:30 p.m. until each race starts. Entry fees range from $8 to $45, depending on age groups and events. Race night prize drawings also are part of the event. Photography hike
ST. PETERSBURG – Photography hike, Sunday, July 5, 8 to 10 a.m., at Weedon Island Preserve, 1800 Weedon Island Drive N.E. Attendees will take a hike while searching for the perfect photograph. Guides will highlight seasonal features of the preserve as well as specific wildlife behaviors that will help you capture the natural beauty of the area. The hike is free and best for adults. Seminole Lake golf training program
SEMINOLE – Seminole Lake Country Club has teamed up with the PGA to offer a golf training program called Get Golf Ready in 5 Days Monday through Friday, 6 to 7:30 p.m., July 6 to 31. The program is conducted in a group lesson format and is designed to teach participants everything needed to begin play with confidence. The fee is $99 and includes use of golf clubs, range balls and instruction. Wee-time at Weedon
ST. PETERSBURG – Wee-time at Weedon will be offered on Thursday, July 9, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., at Weedon Island Preserve, 1800 Weedon Drive N.E. The program is designed to introduce preschoolers to the wonders of the natural world. This week will feature “Living Lights: Fireflies in Your Backyard” by Nancy Lowen. Registration is required. Brooker Book Time
TARPON SPRINGS – Book Time is Thursday, July 9, 10:30 to 11:15 a.m., at Brooker Creek Preserve Environmental Education Center, 3940 Keystone Road. This program is designed to connect preschool children to the wonders of the natural world. This week will feature “Look Out for Turtles!” by Melvin Berger. This program also includes a craft, game or other hands-on activity related to the story. Preregistration is required. Admission is free. The program is recommended for ages 3 to 5. Call 453-6800.

Weedon Island canoe trip
ST. PETERSBURG – Guided canoe trip on Friday, July 10, 9 a.m. to noon, at Weedon Island Preserve, 1800 Weedon Drive N.E. Explore the south canoe trail of Weedon Island Preserve and get a rare look at the aquatic ecosystems that make west- central Florida special. Trained guides will lead participants through mangrove stands and over seagrass and oyster beds while pointing out various flora and fauna. The cost, including tax, for this unique experience is $15 a person or $30 a canoe with a maximum of three people in each canoe. Children should be older than 6 years old and must be accompanied by an adult. Spaces are limited. To register, call 453-6500.

Weedon Island guided hike
ST. PETERSBURG – Guided hike on Saturday, July 11, 9 to 11 a.m., at Weedon Island Preserve, 1800 Weedon Drive N.E. Hikers will be led by the experts through Weedon Island Preserve’s coastal mangrove and upland ecosystems. Participants will learn about the coastal environment and the preserve’s early residents. Reservations must be made by Friday, July 10, 2 p.m. Admission is free. To register, call 453-6500.

Pinellas Youth Football Conference registration

Morton Plant Mease Triathlon
CLEARWATER – Online registration is now open for the fourth annual Morton Plant Mease Triathlon, set for Sunday, July 12. The course will begin with a 1/3-mile open water swim in the Gulf of Mexico at Sand Key Park. From there, the 13-mile bike route will cross Sand Key Causeway, through Clearwater Beach and over the Memorial Causeway, then wind through downtown Clearwater and Belleair and the Belleair Beach Causeway. Runners will complete the race with a 3.1-mile run through Sand Key Park. Registrants may sign up online at www.mpmtriathlon.org and www.active.com. The registration fee is $70 for each competitor and $85 for a relay team. Fees will increase an additional $5 after July 5. Entry fees are nonrefundable. Online registration closes on July 8 and no registration will be offered on the day of the race. Registration capacity is limited to 1,000 entries.

Triathlon training camp
ST. PETE BEACH - The St. Pete Beach Aquatic Center is hosting triathlon training camp in conjunction with the non-profit organizations Florida West Coast Aquatics and Lives Under Construction, July 13 to July 23. The camp will focus on swimming technique, running, conditioning and endurance. The camp takes place Monday through Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. and all sessions will be divided into groups of youth ages 6 to 15 and adults ages 16 and up.  Youth camp is $60 a person and adult camp is $80 a person.  A minimum of five participants are needed per group.  To register, visit St. Pete Beach Aquatics at 7701 Boca Ciega Drive or call 727-363-9245.

PAL football camp
SEMINOLE – The Pinellas County Police Athletic League plans its seventh annual Ultimate Football Conditioning and Skills Camp July 13 through 17, 8 a.m. to noon, at the Seminole Youth Athletic Association, 12100 90th Ave.

The camp is open to ages 8 to 14 and the fee is $100. The camp will be under the direction of Mike Perlin. For more information, call 656-6040.

Congo River Adventure Golf outing
CLEARWATER - Golf outing on Saturday, July 18, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Congo River Adventure, 20060 U.S. 19 N. in Clearwater. Rain date is Saturday, July 25. Cost is $10 per ticket in advance only at Suncoast Primate Sanctuary Foundation, 4600 Alt 19 Palm Harbor. Proceeds will benefit the sanctuary. Tickets are good for any day, not only on July 18. Jays baseball camp
DUNEDIN – The Dunedin Blue Jays plan their annual summer baseball camp for kids ages 6 to 16, Thursday, July 23 to Saturday, July 25, at Dunedin Stadium. Instruction will be provided by members of the Blue Jays. The camp is open to players of all skills and abilities. Hours are 9 a.m. to noon each day. Cost of the camp is $80 per player and $70 for members of the Junior Jays. Call 738-7029.

Boating safety classes
MADEIRA BEACH – The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 11-3 offers monthly safe boating classes at its headquarters, 299 Boca Ciega Drive, Madeira Beach. Classes are conducted Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The cost is $40.

Dates of classes are Aug. 8 and Sept. 12. Successful completion of the Auxiliary’s About Boating Safely and Boating Skills and Seamanship classes could qualify boat owners for a discount on insurance. Call 391-5185.

In The Zone Basketball Camps
SEMINOLE – In The Zone Basketball Camps is offering a weekly basketball program for ages 12 to 16 at Seminole Recreation Center. This elite level program is for interested middle and high school players who want to progress their game to a level of increased competition. Classes are Saturdays, 10 to 11:30 a.m., and cost $25. Tennis lessons
SEMINOLE – Tennis lessons are available Monday evenings at Tennis Club Park, 7283 113th St., from instructor Scott Hagenbuch. Hagenbuch teaches all the fundamentals of the tennis game for all ages. Lessons are offered on a per-lesson basis or on an affordable monthly plan. Call the Seminole Recreation Center at 391-8345 for more information on fees and times. Participants must be a Seminole Recreation member to participate.

Kickboxing program
SEMINOLE – Fourth-degree black belt and world champion Mark Graden instructs a kickboxing program Wednesdays from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. at the Seminole Recreation Center. The training helps fulfill primary goals of self-defense, fitness and personal development. The fee is $36 per four-week session. For more information, call 391-8345.

Kotchman Baseball School
SEMINOLE – Randy Kotchman will be bringing his baseball school to the Seminole Recreation Center. The program will feature skill development and practice for aspiring baseball players ages 4 and older. These private lessons are available for $60 a session. Stingray shuffle time
CLEARWATER – The Clearwater Marina Harbormaster’s Office advises the public that stingrays are back in area waters. Swimmers are reminded to do the “stingray shuffle” when entering the water. The shuffling of feet creates a disturbance that causes stingrays to move away. If a sting does occur, see a beach guard immediately for a hot pack treatment. The peak of stingray season is May through October. Call 462-6954.
