Exotic Wildlife Workshop to explore problem species

LARGO – The University of Florida IFAS Pinellas County Extension will host the second annual Exotic Wildlife Workshop on Tuesday, July 31, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The program, Problem Species in Florida – How We are Fighting Back, will examine African Gambian pouch rats, walking catfish, domestic ducks and other exotic, non-native wildlife species which are now successfully living in Florida.
Wildlife experts will review new exotic wildlife research, including Cuban treefrog repellents and monk parakeet contraception. Participants will be made aware of the negative impacts exotic wildlife has on native wildlife populations and the natural environment.
Registration fee is $10 with notebook materials included. Registration required by July 24. Limited space available. Snacks supplied, but participants should bring lunch.
