LARGO – The annual Family Fun Fishing Day is set for Saturday, Aug. 4, 8 to 11 a.m., at Walsingham Park, 12615 102nd Ave. N.
The event was originally scheduled for June 2 but was postponed due to rain.
The free event, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Seminole Breakfast, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Pinellas County Parks and Recreation Department, and Sweetbay Supermarket of Seminole, gives kids and their parents the opportunity to communicate, relax and enjoy a fun activity.
Family Fun Fishing Day is a great opportunity for youth achievement, success and well being while providing contact with nature, said Leah Hoffman, Parks and Recreation Operations manager.
Fishing poles and bait will be provided. Experienced anglers are welcome to bring their own fishing tackle.
Prizes will be awarded to anglers 14 and under for the first catch, largest fish, multiple catches and more.
The Kiwanis Club of Seminole Breakfast will be offering coffee or juice and a donut for a $1 donation. Proceeds go toward the purchase of worms for the fishing days.
For more information, call the Pinellas County Parks and Recreation Department at 464-3347.
