ST. PETERSBURG How to Read a Beach will be presented Saturday, Aug. 23, 2 to 3:30 p.m., at Weedon Island Preserve, 1800 Weedon Drive NE.
An illustrated talk facilitated by Tonya Clayton, the free program will offer attendees an opportunity to explore the exciting, ever-changing zone where land meets sea. Clayton will explain what often-overlooked hills, holes and wrinkles tell us about beach sands, plants and animals. Every beach is full of clues hidden in plain view. Clayton is the author of How to Read a Florida Gulf Coast Beach. Books will be available for purchase. Preregistration is required. Call 453-6500.
Clayton is a graduate of the Florida Master Naturalist Program and the Florida Natural Resources Leadership Institute. The program is suitable for all ages.
