CLEARWATER – Clearwater Marine Aquarium will continue its free Making Waves speaker series with a program on Thursday, Aug. 21, in the aquarium’s Bright House Theatre, 249 Windward Passage.
Robert Hardy will discuss drifting ecosystems – namely, the brown algae Sargassum, and the critical role it plays in the ecology of many marine species.
The event will begin at 6 p.m. with welcome and refreshments provided by Costco Wholesale. The guest speaker will make his presentation from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. A question-and-answer session will follow.
Hardy is a research associate in the sea turtle program at the FWC Fish and Wildlife Research Institute (FWRI). He has contributed to investigations of sea turtles relative to their environment, analyzing animal movement, distribution, and specific habitat characteristics.
This free speaker series is geared towards anyone wanting to learn more about marine life and is open to all ages.
