PINELLAS PARK – The second annual Fireman John Memorial Fishing Tournament, to help All Children’s Hospital and Florida Safe Pools purchase life jackets for children, will be held Saturday, Sept. 14.
Last year’s tournament raised $1,530, which was donated to All Children’s Hospital.
Registration is $30 for adults and $15 for children younger than 14. This is an in-shore catch and release tournament. Fish from boat or land using live bait or artificial lures. There will be an open division, a junior division and a kayak division.
The tournament is held in honor of retired Pinellas Park firefighter John Litz, who was an avid fisherman. In September 2011, while fishing with a friend, Litz was thrown from the boat and drowned. He was not wearing a life jacket.
For tournament rules, contact Tom at firstname.lastname@example.org. There will be a mandatory registration meeting at Fat Cat Tavern, 6080 U.S. 19 N. in Largo, on Friday, Sept. 13.
