LARGO – Highland Recreation Center, at 400 Highland Ave., is hosting running training programs to help residents prepare for the Tampa Bay Times Annual Turkey Trot 5K or the Women’s Running Half-Marathon.
The training will equip participants with group runs, tips on proper stretching and training plans to take home and follow for the remainder of each week. Classes are open to runners ages 16 and older. A city of Largo recreation card is required.
Training for the women’s half-marathon meets Sept. 3 through Nov. 23 on Tuesdays, 6 p.m., and Saturdays, 7:30 a.m. The half-marathon race will be held Sunday, Nov. 24. The cost is $99 for residents and $123.75 for nonresidents.
Train for the Turkey Trot class meets Oct. 2 though Nov. 27 on Wednesdays, 6 p.m. The class will conclude with the race held on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28. The cost is $50 for residents and $62.50 for nonresidents.
