PeeWee sports class ST. PETE BEACH – The St. Pete Beach Community Center, 7701 Boca Ciega Drive, is offering a new sports class for ages 3 to 6. The city’s peewee sports programs are designed to introduce sports to kids. The co-ed classes teach the fundamentals of baseball, soccer, basketball and football. Water carnival ST. PETE BEACH – The city of St. Pete Beach is offering Splish, Splat, Splash Water Carnival at the Community Center pool Saturday, Sept. 14, 10 to 11:30 a.m. Ages 10 and under are invited to participate. Cost is $3. There will be both water- and land-based games for children to play, prizes and a treasure hunt. After the carnival, kids can spend the rest of the day in the pool until 3 p.m.
Youth basketball league BELLEAIR – The Belleair Parks and Recreation Department is offering a fall youth basketball league for ages 5 to 17. This recreational league is designed to teach and enhance basketball knowledge and skills in a fun atmosphere. Games are played on Saturdays and practices are held once a week for an hour. Evaluations will be held on Saturday, Sept. 7. The 10-week season will start on Monday, Sept. 16, and conclude on Saturday, Nov. 16. League fee for members is $75 and $90 for nonmembers. Family Fun Day ST. PETE BEACH – The city Recreation Department plans Family Fun Day Sunday, Sept. 22, noon to 3 p.m., at the Aquatic Center, 7701 Boca Ciega Drive. 5K and half-marathon training LARGO – Highland Recreation Center, at 400 Highland Ave., is hosting running training programs to help residents prepare for the Tampa Bay Times Annual Turkey Trot 5K or the Women’s Running Half-Marathon. The training will equip participants with group runs, tips on proper stretching and training plans to take home and follow for the remainder of each week. Classes are open to runners ages 16 and older. A city of Largo recreation card is required.
Training for the women’s half-marathon meets Sept. 3 through Nov. 23 on Tuesdays, 6 p.m., and Saturdays, 7:30 a.m. The half-marathon race will be held Sunday, Nov. 24. The cost is $99 for residents and $123.75 for nonresidents.

Aqua Zumba classes SEMINOLE – Aqua Zumba classes are held weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 9 to 10 a.m., at the Holland G. Mangum Recreation Complex Aquatic Center, 9100 113th St. N. Aqua Zumba is a Latin-inspired, easy-to-follow, low-impact water-based workout that’s cardio-conditioning, body toning and calorie burning. Those interested in taking the class do not need to be members of the rec center. Cost for a drop-in class is $7 for members and $10.50 for nonmembers. Weight loss group LARGO – Highland Recreation Complex will host a weight loss group starting Monday, Sept. 9, 6 p.m., at 400 Highland Ave. Damiane Handa, certified health coach from The Balance Branch, leads this program, designed to help participants lose pounds and keep them off without dieting through group and individual support.
