Clearwater Garden Club
CLEARWATER – The Clearwater Garden Club will meet on Friday, Sept. 14, 12:30 p.m., at 405 Seminole St. The club meets second Fridays, September through May. The club also meets third Saturdays, 10 a.m. Meetings feature speakers and refreshments.

Planned events for this year include a trash to treasure sale, a home tour, Christmas luncheon, design classes, card party, fashion show, plant sale and flower show. Call 441-2719.

Garden Explorer Discovery Tour
LARGO - Take a free, self-guided Garden Explorer Discovery Tour Monday through Friday in September from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Florida Botanical Gardens, 12520 Ulmerton Road, Largo. Make the tour even more fun with a Discovery Backpack available for checkout from the Welcome Center. The backpack is loaded with I-spy sheets featuring art, flowers, insects and birds that may be found throughout the Gardens. A pair of binoculars and a map with interesting facts about plants are included. With more than 30 acres of cultivated gardens to explore, plan about two hours for this fun adventure. Rain Barrel Workshop
LARGO - Learn how to collect rainwater from the roof during a Rain Barrel Workshop on Saturday, Sept. 15, 9 to 10:30 a.m., at Pinellas County Extension, 12520 Ulmerton Road, Largo. Gardening for Wildlife workshop
TARPON SPRINGS – An instructor from Pinellas County IFAS Extension will present a free Gardening for Wildlife workshop on Saturday, Sept. 15, 10 to 11:30 a.m., at Brooker Creek Preserve’s Environmental Education Center, 3940 Keystone Road. The workshop will guide participants interested in choosing plants that create habitat for wildlife. Preregistration is required. Recommended for ages 8 and up. Nature’s Store – The Cabbage Palm Program
ST. PETERSBURG - Learn about the palm's practical uses for food, medicine and building materials that can be traced back through thousands of years of human history and more at The Cabbage Patch program on Saturday, Sept. 15, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Weedon Island Preserve, 1800 Weedon Drive N.E., St. Petersburg. Herb Society

Bay Bouquet Garden Club of Dunedin
DUNEDIN – The Bay Bouquet Garden Club of Dunedin will kick off its new season with a Design a Mini-garden program on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 11 a.m., at Dunedin Library, 223 Douglas Ave.

Also, there will be a tree planting ceremony on Saturday, Oct. 6, 10 a.m., at the Dunedin Cemetery. Call Julie at 734-2058.

Tampa African Violet Society
TAMPA – The Tampa African Violet Society will meet Friday, Sept. 21, 10 a.m., at the Seminole Garden Center, 5800 Central Ave. The program is How To Select African Violet Show Plants by award-winning judge and grower, Nancy Kast. ST. PETERSBURG - Learn how to create a garden area or a wildlife habitat that is friendly to Florida’s wildlife and the environment with Dale Armstrong from Pinellas County Extension at the Gardening for Wildlife program on Saturday, Sept. 22, 10 to 11 a.m. at Weedon Island Preserve, 1800 Weedon Drive N.E., St. Petersburg. Attract beautiful songbirds, hummingbirds, butterflies and other interesting wildlife to your yard. This program is free, and all ages are welcome. Register by calling 727-453-6500.

World Rivers Day Fest
TARPON SPRINGS - Celebrate the third international World Rivers Day with a Fest to highlight the many values of Brooker Creek Preserve’s waterways on Saturday, Sept. 29, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Brooker Creek Preserve, 3940 Keystone Road, Tarpon Springs. The Fest immerses visitors in area waterways and offers practical ideas and materials to make a difference at home and in the community. Live music, shows, demonstrations, interactive exhibits, art displays by local artists, children’s activities and refreshments offered. The Fest is fun and informative for the entire family. Pinellas Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society
CLEARWATER – The Pinellas Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society will host a membership meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 7 p.m., Moccasin Lake Nature Park, 2750 Park Trail Lane. The meeting will focus on the Learning Gate Community School. The school places its lessons within the context of an environmental curriculum.

Plant sale
TARPON SPRINGS – The Pinellas Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society will host a plant sale, Fall in Love with Natives, on Saturday, Oct. 6, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Brooker Creek Preserve, 3940 Keystone Road.

Native Plant Society field trip
RIVERVIEW – The Pinellas Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society will sponsor a field trip to Balm-Boyette Scrub Nature Preserve on Saturday, Oct. 13. The preserve is a 4,916-acre property purchased by Hillsborough County in 1992. It is unique in the county due to the high percentage of undisturbed upland habitat that it contains, especially the rare scrub habitat. Many protected species of plants and animals have been documented on the site. Carpooling will be arranged.
