WESLEY CHAPEL – Madison Heideman of Largo, finished second in the division for girls ages 11 to 14 during the Tampa Bay Junior Open in Wesley Chapel Sept. 14-15, part of the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour.
Heideman’s final score was 162. Heideman had 17 pars and a scoring average of 4.8 on par four-holes. She was 12 strokes behind first-place winner Nicole Polivchak of Sarasota, but one stroke ahead of Cosette Anderson of Wesley Chapel.
For both days of the competition, junior golfers had to battle the elements, facing high heat and humidity as well as standing water throughout the course.
All winners also received an invitation to the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour’s 2013 Tour Championship. The top 10 finishers in each division received points toward the Hurricane Cup and end-of-year honors.
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour was founded in 2008 to provide golfers ages 11 to 18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour compete in one of four age divisions: boys 15 to 18 and 11 to 14 and girls 15 to 18 and 11 to 14.
