GULFPORT - Plans are under way for the upcoming Keep Gulfport Weird Mini Triathlon scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 29, same day as the Tangerine Blues Fest.
This route connects the 49th St. Redevelopment District with the Waterfront area. The course will incorporate in order, a 1-mile run, 3-mile bike and ¼-mile swim.
The run will begin at the church parking lot of 5424 Gulfport Blvd. S., then, bike around the Clymer Park Greenways to Shore Blvd. S., to finish with a swim along the beach from Shelter # 7 to the Gulfport Casino.
The race is designed to be short enough to invite participation from most ages and fitness levels, whether individually or in teams, and is intended to be simply for fun. The competitive component is not the priority, but rather the gathering of community in the spirit of having fun and getting outdoors.
Anyone who wants to participate, all or in part, is welcome to do so.
Business sponsors are also welcomed in donating gift certificates towards prize giveaways after the triathlon. If you would like to volunteer or if your business is interested in participating, please contact Gail Biron at 727-893-1118.
