CLEARWATER – The Clearwater Lady Bombers 14-under girls softball team won 13 of 14 games over a one-week span to capture the 2012 USSSA World Series at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
The team wrapped up the title on Aug. 4 by working its way back through the loser’s bracket for a pair of victories over the Orlando Aftershock. The Bombers took the first game 5-1 and nailed down the championship with an 8-0 shutout.
The pitching staff – Pressler, Grat and McEntire – was awarded the tournament pitching MVP award. The three pitchers gave up an average of just 1.78 runs per game. The Lady Bombers scored 83 runs in the 14 games for an average of nearly six runs per game.
