INDIAN ROCKS BEACH – Mothers Against Drunk Driving will host the third annual Pinellas Walk Like MADD 5K & MADD Dash 5K Run on Indian Rocks Beach Oct. 4
Sponsored by Bright House Networks and Carey & Leisure Law Firm, festivities begin at 5 p.m. and run until 9 p.m.
The walk/run starts at 6:30 p.m. and will raise funds and rally support for MADD’s educational programs and victim services in Pinellas and Pasco counties.
All proceeds raised from the Pinellas Walk Like MADD/MADD Dash remain in Pinellas/Pasco counties to further MADD’s lifesaving mission by supporting and educating local families and youth right here.
“We encourage families, and groups of friends and co-workers, to lace up their sneakers and join us for this year’s walk,” said Amber Saltzman, Walk Like MADD coordinator. “With everyone’s help, we can and will eliminate drunk driving – a 100 percent preventable crime.”
The Walk Like MADD/MADD Dash 5K is taking place for the third consecutive year and is expected to raise $35,000 to help further MADD’s mission to eliminate drunk driving, support the victims of this violent crime and prevent underage drinking. Registration is $15 for those ages 5 to 21, and $20 for those who are 21 and older. Registration includes a T-shirt and participation in the food, fun and festivities.
Coal Fired Pizza, Hooters, Olive Garden, McDonalds and more will be on hand. Corporations and other groups are encouraged to form teams of 10 or more and are asked to raise $100 each through donations.
