PINELLAS PARK Ė The second annual Fireman John Memorial Fishing Tournament Sept. 14 raised $1,800 to help purchase life jackets for children.
With the assistance of 70 anglers and sponsors, the fishing tournament benefitted All Childrenís Hospital in support of Florida Safe Pools, to purchase life jackets for children with special needs as well as children found in boats not wearing life jackets.
The tournament was held in honor of retired Pinellas Park firefighter and avid fisherman John Litz.
In September 2011, while fishing with a friend, Litz was thrown from the boat and drowned.
