CLEARWATER – The Florida Sports Foundation, a division of Enterprise Florida, Inc., is opening a satellite office in Clearwater’s Long Center in an effort for its amateur sports staff to better serve the athletes of Florida and be more centrally located to the facilities used in its amateur sports events held throughout the year.
In a collaborative effort between the city’s parks and recreation department and the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Sports Commission, the FSF amateur sports staff will make the relocation from Tallahassee to Clearwater after Jan. 1.
“The geographics of this satellite office will produce a cost savings by giving us better access to venues and participants,” said FSF President John Webb. “The savings will only help with the day-to-day effectiveness for our annual Sunshine State Games and Florida International Senior Games & State Championships and help these annual events grow.”
Florida’s Sunshine State Games is the longest running consecutive years state games in the U.S., dating back to 1980. The 2014 games will be the 35th annual Sunshine State Games.
