Soccer leagues hosts family picnic LARGO – Celtic FC Florida invites the community to its second annual family picnic Sunday, Oct. 20, 3 to 7 p.m., at the Largo field, 11500 125th St. The event will feature a bounce house, photo booth with props, cake walk, DJ with contests, prizes, a 50/50 cash raffle, hotdogs, hamburgers and concessions and other activities. Gopher Run set at Weedon Island ST. PETERSBURG – The Friends of Weedon Island will host the third annual Gopher Weedon 8K Run Saturday, Oct. 26, 9 a.m., at Weedon Island Preserve, 1800 Weedon Drive NE. The race course will follow natural trails through one of Tampa Bay’s hidden gems. Children invited to compete in sports fest LARGO – The city of Largo’s annual Pee Wee Sports Fest will be Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Highland Recreation Complex, 400 Highland Ave. Little athletes, ages 4 to 11, will compete in events including a football throw, basketball hot shot, a soccer shoot out, track and obstacle challenges. All children are welcome to compete. Athletes ages 8 to 11 will start at 9 a.m. and athletes ages 4 to 7 will start at 10:30 a.m. Cost is $10 per participant, which includes a medal and a T-shirt.
