PINELLAS COUNTY – The St. Petersburg College volleyball team is headed to the state tournament again.
A thrilling 3-0 victory against South Florida Community College Oct. 11 secured third place in the Suncoast Conference, which qualifies the Titans for the tournament. South Florida, which beat SPC earlier in the season, would have earned the berth with a victory.
Pasco-Hernando CC, which beat SPC twice, won the conference at 9-1 and Hillsborough was second at 8-2.
The state tournament is Nov. 1-3 in Winter Haven at Polk Community College. Pairings for the state tournament will be announced next week.
After the victory at South Florida, the team continued south for the Miami-Dade College tournament. The outcome was a 1-3 record to leave the team 14-7 overall and 6-4 in the conference.
The team concludes its regular season Oct. 23 at home against Clearwater Christian College.
