Millennium Park launches variety of outdoor programs

SEMINOLE Boca Ciega Millennium Park will host a variety of Saturday morning programs in the coming weeks as follows:
Nov. 4 Cast netting: regulations and techniques, 10 a.m. Learn how to throw a cast net and bait a net. Participants are urged to bring their own cast or bait net.
Nov. 11, Dec. 16 and Jan. 13 Birding 101, 7:30 a.m. The event will include a brief slide presentation and a guided bird walk through the park.
Dec. 2 Guided nature walk, 9 a.m. Participants will walk through the parks natural communities looking for signs of critters. Attendees should bring comfortable walking shoes, mosquito repellent, binoculars, camera and sunscreen.
Jan. 6 Reptile review, 10 a.m. Discover the wonderful world of reptiles including snakes, turtles, alligators, lizards and tortoises. A slide presentation will be given. Participants will have an opportunity to handle Nemo, a Florida king snake, and Lucy, a red rat snake.
Jan. 20 Night hike, 5:30 p.m. For children and adults interested in discovering how the park changes from day to night.
Jan. 27 Owls: Legends, myths and truths, 10 a.m. Participants will view a slide presentation and dissect owl pellets (if they wish) as they learn about these amazing creatures.
