Kingfish tournament kicks off Nov. 5

MADEIRA BEACH – The 17th annual Fall King of the Beach Kingfish Tournament is set Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 5 to 7.

The event, which has a 30-mile boundary line, offers a $10,000 first-place prize and over $70,000 total in cash and prizes.

The entry fee is $175 per boat.

The event begins with a captain’s party Thursday at 6 p.m.

Festivities, which are open to the public start with a fish fry Friday, 5 p.m., at the Madeira Beach ball fields, 200 Rex Place. The event includes a $12.95 grouper platter and $3 draft beers. Music will be provided by the group Exit 28.

Weigh-ins are set Saturday from noon to 10 p.m. There also will be a corn toss tournament with a $1,000 first-place prize, along with live music by Jahfari and Zach and the Lounge Kids.

More than 30 vendors will be on hand and there will be a free kids zone.

Admission is free and the public is invited.
