Sea turtles program INDIAN SHORES – Clearwater Marine Aquarium is offering a presentation on sea turtles Sunday, Nov. 8, at the Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary, 18328 Gulf Blvd. Admission is free. Call 391-6211 to register.
Weedon Island exhibit ST. PETERSBURG – The opening reception of the exhibit Just Landscapes will be Saturday, Nov. 7, noon to 2 p.m., at Weedon Island Preserve, 1800 Weedon Drive N.E.
A native of Missouri, Kevin Grass spent time while in high school on a wide variety of commissioned works ranging from portraits and landscapes to campaign signs and car decorations. Currently, he is an assistant professor of art at St. Petersburg College. Grass will attend the opening reception and will discus his work. Preregistration is not required. The event is recommended for adults and suitable for children 12 and older.
Visitors can enjoy this free exhibit during normal center hours through Dec. 31. Hours are Thursday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call 453-6500.
Brooker Creek guided hike TARPON SPRINGS – A free guided hike will be offered on Saturday, Nov. 7, 9 to 11 a.m., at Brooker Creek Preserve, 3940 Keystone Road. Attendees will take a walk through time on a guided hike along the Brooker Creek Preserve Education Trail. Hikers will see how the land has changed over time and discuss the ecological footprints left by those changes. All ages are welcome, but children younger than 6 may find the hike challenging. Registration is required by Friday, Nov. 6, noon. Call 453-6800.
Weedon Island guided hike ST. PETERSBURG – A free guided hike will be offered on Saturday, Nov. 7, 9 to 11 a.m., at Weedon Island Preserve, 1800 Weedon Drive N.E. Attendees will join in a two-hour hike with the experts through Weedon Island Preserve’s coastal mangrove and upland ecosystems. Hikers will learn about the coastal environment and the preserve’s early residents. Participants should meet at the classroom patio at 8:50 a.m. Registration is required by Friday, Nov. 6, 2 p.m. Call 453-6506.
Fort De Soto nature walks TIERRA VERDE – Nature walks will be presented on Saturday, Nov. 7 and Sunday, Nov. 8, 10 to 11 a.m., at Fort De Soto County Park, 3500 Pinellas Bayway S. Participants will have a chance to enjoy Fort De Soto County Park with a free one-hour nature walk. Hikers can explore the Mangrove Nature Walk. Registration is required. Wee-time at Weedon ST. PETERSBURG – Wee-time at Weedon will be presented Thursday, Nov. 12, 10:30 to 11:15 a.m., at Weedon Island Preserve, 1800 Weedon Drive N.E. Designed to introduce preschoolers to the wonders of the natural world, this installment of Wee-time at Weedon will feature “Nuts to You!” by Lois Ehlert. The program also will include a craft, game or other hands-on activity related to the story. The free program is best for children ages 3 to 5. Registration is required. Call 453-6500.
Brooker Creek Book Time TARPON SPRINGS – Book Time at Brooker Creek will be presented Thursday, Nov. 12, 10:30 to 11:15 a.m., at Brooker Creek Preserve, 3940 Keystone Road.
