Trip to Bok Tower ST. PETERSBURG - Travel with Sunken Gardens and ESCOT Friday, Dec. 4, on a European designed air-conditioned motor coach to Bok Tower for Christmas at the Pinewood Holiday Home Tour. Capture the holiday spirit when you tour the 20 room Mediterranean-style mansion at Pinewood Estate, www.boktowergardens.org. Cost is $56 for Sunken Gardens members and $64 for non-members, and includes admission to the Gardens, Holiday Home Tour, lunch from a selected menu and more. The bus leaves at 8:30 a.m. and returns to Sunken Gardens at 4:30 p.m. Trip organizers say 40 people are needed. Ikebana chapter demonstration SEMINOLE – Ikebana International Chapter 65 will host a demonstration on Monday, Nov. 16, 10 a.m. to noon, at Chapel on the Hill, 12601 Park Blvd. Open to the public, the free demonstration will be presented by the group’s newest teachers representing five schools of Ikebana. November is the peak season of the locally grown gladiolus and they will be used exclusively in the arrangements. Call Joyce Scalzo at 392-4012.
Garden Club meeting PINELLAS PARK – The Pinellas Park Garden Club will meet on Monday, Nov. 16, at the Park Station, 5851 Park Blvd. There will be a brief business meeting at 10 a.m. A field trip to Heritage Village will follow. For more information, call 320-8684 or 563-9145.
Florida Herb Society meeting CLEARWATER – The Florida Herb Society will meet Tuesday, Nov. 17, at the Clearwater Garden Club, 405 Seminole St. The evening will begin with a welcome and registration session at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Linda Nash Stevenson of Lifeforce Acupuncture and Rita Taylor of Briarwood Farm Herbal Pantry will lead an herbal vinegar hands-on workshop. Attendees should bring their own bottle. The event will include refreshments and herbal swaps between 6:30 and 7 p.m. Visitors are welcome and can check out a meeting for free. Extension shares expertise with community The Pinellas County Extension Lawn and Garden Hotline is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Citizens are welcome to call the hotline at 727-582-2110 and get answers to questions about how best to maintain and improve their landscapes from extension pros backed up with expertise and research from the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences.
Master Gardener Plant Clinic PALM HARBOR - A Master Gardener Plant Clinic is open at the Palm Harbor Library on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Master Gardeners offer diagnostic services that include soil testing along with information about identifying plants, treatment for insects and ideas for Florida-friendly landscaping.
