Millennium Park to host Saturday programs

SEMINOLE – Boca Ciega Millennium Park will host a variety of Saturday morning programs in the coming weeks as follows:

• Jan. 6 – Reptile review, 10 a.m. Discover the wonderful world of reptiles including snakes, turtles, alligators, lizards and tortoises. A slide presentation will be given. Participants will have an opportunity to handle Nemo, a Florida king snake, and Lucy, a red rat snake.

• Jan. 13 – Night hike, 5:30 p.m. For children and adults interested in discovering how the park changes from day to night.

• Feb. 3 – Cast netting: regulations and techniques, 10 a.m. Learn how to throw a cast net and bait a net. Participants are urged to bring their own cast or bait net.

• Feb. 17 – Birding 101, 7:30 a.m. The event will include a brief slide presentation and a guided bird walk through the park.

• March 3 – Discovery Day, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

• March 17 – Owls: Legends, myths and truths, 10 a.m. Participants will view a slide presentation and dissect owl pellets (if they wish) as they learn about these amazing creatures.
