Audubon Society sponsors trips

CLEARWATER – Field trips sponsored by the Clearwater Audubon Society in January are as follows:

• Saturday, Jan. 6, 7:30 a.m., – Pinellas Causeways: Water, shore birds and raptors from your vehicle plus songbirds at Al Lopez Park (time permitting). Meet at Clearwater Mall in front of Target. Contact Merle Hubbard at 939-1549.

• Saturday, Jan. 6, 8 a.m. – Moccasin Lake Nature Park: Resident and migratory songbirds, water birds and raptors in oak and xeric hammocks. Easy .75 mile walk. Meet at Moccasin Lake Nature Park. Contact Joan Brigham at 446-9367.

• Saturday, Jan. 13, 8 a.m., Lake Rogers Park: Songbirds and water birds along a 2.5 mile sand trail plus Al Lopez Park (time permitting). Meet at Countryside Shopping Town. Contact Mike McDonald at 538-0688.

• Multi-day trip – Friday, Jan. 12, 7 a.m. to Sunday, Jan. 14, 4 p.m. – Everglades National Wildlife Refuge at Shark Valley, Everglades at Flamingo and then onto Loxahatchee Wildlife Refuge. Cost: $350 a person double occupancy and $420 a person single occupancy. Contact Ken Rowe at 781-0745.

• Saturday, Jan. 20, 7:30 a.m. – Clearwater Specialties and Miniature Art Society Annual Exhibit: Songbirds, raptors and water birds at locations in the City of Clearwater, then docent tour of the world’s premier Miniature Art Show. Meet at Brighthouse Stadium, far north parking lot. Call Mike McDonald at 538-8688.
